Safety and compliance in flight ops
When you work in flight operations for a commercial airline, every day is busy, with recurring key challenges:
1. Safety and compliance
Will we be ready for the audit? Does everyone have the latest updates? What is our progress with the latest regulations?
2. Information management and collaboration
There’s simply too much content duplication. We’d like to get better organized and work together on projects. We want to continuously improve our processes.
3. Workflow process management and monitoring
Who is doing what and when will it be done? Are we making progress? Is our work being done efficiently and cost-effectively?
AeroDocs is the one tool to help you out-perform, to keep you ahead of your challenges, and to embrace the future of intelligent information. What’s key is not just the intelligence contained in your operation’s information, but the intelligent use of that information.
AeroDocs benefits for EFB Managers and pilots
What was your biggest struggle that led you to look at our product as a solution?
We were dealing with mountains of paper and, with our plan to increase our fleet and pilot roster, I could see that the paper-based documentation approach was going to cause us problems. Also, I had great difficulty in ensuring that all pilots had the correct manuals and that they had acknowledged receipt for safety audits.
Take us through the process of implementing the product. What features are you using to meet your needs?
Implementation was fast and smooth. Because AeroDocs can be deployed over the cloud, we didn’t have to worry about our IT infrastructure. Training was also delivered remotely, but our flight ops and pilot users got to grips with the system quite quickly, as it’s all so intuitive in use.
What’s been the ROI on the product? What sort of improvements are you seeing in your metrics?
We’ve saved up to 50% of the time it took for the flight ops team to distribute manuals to pilots. When it’s time for our safety audit, preparation of reports is also taking 50% less time for our safety and compliance team. These are substantial savings in time and money. Also, the fact that each aircraft is carrying 25kg less weight - on every single flight - adds up to substantial fuel savings over time, especially as our fleet grows rapidly.
How has your day-to-day life changed since implementation? How do you feel about these improvements?
My life, and the lives of the document owners, has gotten much easier. There’s so much less hassle involved in getting a manual update out to pilots, and in supplying reports to safety auditors. Our pilots’ lives are also easier, as they can search for the information they need on the flight deck so much more easily. This makes them more effective in the cockpit and, I believe, helps them to operate our aircraft even more safely.
How AeroDocs helps with safety and compliance
Quickly generate a summary view of key performance information, such as number of docs by team, number of regulator-controlled documents, and number of documents by status, e.g., in revision, draft, publishing, published. Use this information to answer important questions, such as how long it will take to complete tasks, and is there a risk of being overwhelmed.
Quickly ascertain the number of documents at workflow stages, e.g., awaiting external approval, and the number of documents that have exceeded specified workflow deadlines. Measure per-user authoring/approving wait times and measure productivity. With AeroDocs you get the answers you need, when you need them.
